Hatha-Vinyasa Yoga is a way to train the inner body, particularly the nervous system to better link the mind and body. It involves co-ordinating the many elements of body, mind and energy so that they move simultaneously when practicing Hatha yoga. The Vinyasa movements, breath-work and meditation are intended to strengthen the central nervous system and internal organs, rather than only the muscles.
Through the application of total relaxation, the body is able to release accumulated stress and tension.
The practice helps to:
- Make the mind as still, quiet & stable as possible;
- Bring all the internal connections between the various body parts and the mind into the vinyasa practice;
- Raise the efficiency of internal organs up to a high level;
- Open up the spine and all the joints of the body;
- Promote healing and prevent injuries by increasing awareness of body limitations on any given day.
All of the above is accomplished through internal concentration and motions that appear externally small, but actually are internally large. Internal tissue expands and contracts, there is greater control over joint movements, nerve flow is increased, internal organs are pressurized and massaged. Conscious awareness of internal body functions is increased, and even the fluids that make your body work can be felt and their pumping action increased.
Practicing Hatha-Vinyasa Yoga through the seasons and over long periods enables you to develop relaxed internal awareness, greater inner power and flexibility as well as a deeper connection with the energy of the season. With Hatha-Vinyasa Practice more time and energy is devoted to internal development. Come and experience a class for yourself. |
